UNIQLO opened its first West Coast flagship store last week in San Francisco’s Union Square. At 29,000-sq.-ft., this new store got our attention for several reasons—and we just had to share it. We think you’ll agree that there’s some pretty special stuff happening at this new flagship location.
Check out the top four items that caught our eye:
1) The LED rainbow (um, did someone say awesome?!) staircase serves as a main focal point of the store.
2) Basement to roof skylight. Forget about feeling boxed in at this retail location—you’ll feel like you’re practically shopping outside.
3) A total of seven monitor walls and 77 LCD screens surrounding the perimeter of the store. This is either going to keep kids very busy while moms shop or if they show music videos, some of us may end up staying there the whole day.
4) And my personal favorite…magic mirror technology. I may actually hop on a plane to SF for this one. Customers use this color-changing and half-mirror touch panel technology to change color palettes on different clothing options. The screen is so bright and large, it allows folks to see what they would look like if they were actually wearing the clothes. Genius. Honestly, on some days I don’t want to change into 20 different outfits. Sometimes I just want to stand still and have a computer show me how an outfit would look on me. Where’s the “love” button for this?
See, we told you there was specialness oozing out of this new UNIQLO locale.
What’s most intriguing to you? If you live in SF, you’ve got to tell us—is the rainbow staircase as spectacular as it looks in the photos? Leave your thoughts here!

The line up to get in was really long both times we tried to get in with security guards – uncomfortable crowd – so we left!
