I love fashion – and as I’m sure you’ve noticed – I also
love retail. The YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund recently got my attention when it
announced its partnership with Ross Stores. Ross is one of my favorite retailers
for buying inexpensive, hot designs. In fact, I fully fashioned my upcoming Maui vacation with purchases from Ross. (But, shh…don’t
tell anyone, I would rather them believe it’s all from Roxy and Express.)
Fund with a multi-year donation totaling $100,000. On top of all that cash
money, the fund and Ross will award $5,000 in scholarships annually to four
students who “demonstrate excellence in retail leadership” and a summer
internship at Ross. That is amazingly fantastic. Ross, (who I now love even
more) is utilizing funds and promoting education to foster the growth of up and
coming fashionistas and retail leaders.
helping out the next generation, how will retail and fashion continue to
expand? It won’t. I love that Ross gets this. It’s also a win-win for Ross, who
can now tap into retail talent early on. The internship could easily end up as
a way to identify top rockstars before they’re officially seeking employment.
fashion is worth funding, and Ross clearly recognizes this. Do you know
retailers who are supporting students in retail and fashion? Tell us about it
here!
